ABM Stars Non-Negotiables
ABM Stars is a pleasant, remote-working environment.
Without the following, we would not be a successful, rapidly scaling business.
All we ask from everyone, whether part-time or full-time, is the following.
If you feel you cannot comply with this for any reason – no shame at all, just tell us and DO NOT work with us. It won’t work out and will waste everybody’s time, including your own – it becomes very apparent very quickly.
#1 No Other Work During ABM Stars Time
No outside distractions, no hobby projects, no distractions from other clients if you are part-time/contractor.
**DURING the fixed weekly hours dedicated to us**. Dedicated is the word. During contracted/paid hours with us, you will work on ABM Stars only.
We must agree precise working days/hours before you start as completely ring-fenced ABM Stars time.
#2 Slack Availability & Responsiveness
As a remote-only business we heavily rely on Slack.
Your hours, wherever you are, are expected to cross-over with our UK 9-5 clock by at least 50% of your total hours. i.e. 50% of your hours must be between UK 9-5.
During these agreed times, you are expected to be 80% quickly responsive on Slack for communications.
The other 20% being not at desk / taking a break – or in some deep work you cannot break concentration from for a short period of time.
#3 Hubstaff Clocking In-Out
As a 100% remote business, we cannot glance over the office to check if Colin came to work today.
So we use Hubstaff for clocking in/out. You must use the app, not the Chrome Extension – it can easily be toggled on/off.
And, **only if** productivity goes under a threshold, it is inspected in more detail by our accounts team – this is part of their remit.
- Our most productive employees = 90%+ productivity/activity on Hubstaff
- Average = 75%
- Poor = <70%
- Watching Netflix/highly suspicious/doesn’t really want to work for ABM Stars = <60%
You will have access to your own data, it is your own user account attached to our team.
#4 Communication/Video
You are expected to provide 1x weekly screen share video per week – approx 1-2 minutes only – summarising that week + raising any issues that week.
You are also expected to jump on Google Meets with us, held in English (your English must therefore be ‘good’ or better) at least fortnightly for catchup sessions and as required to complete complex tasks.
Lastly, and we may be able to help you with this…
Your work environment is important. We don’t want people working off a mattress with a 10-inch laptop screen on their lap. You will not be productive.
Full-time employees get second screens and other gadgets paid for (and returned to ABM Stars if employment ends). We can talk about this, or if logistically difficult to return items to the UK, subsidising any equipment you may need/want.
We just expect that you are working from a proper desk – not the bed or the floor. We may ask for a photo of your work environment before any employment.
